Presumably from England. Mahogany, size: 11 x 5 1⁄2 x 11 in. (with lens and open flap), focal length approx. 25 cm, sliding-box focusing system, screen size: 4 3⁄4 x 4 3⁄4 in., mirror slightly cloudy. With original wood-bound lens and threaded cap. – In very good unrestored orig- inal condition.

"Balton & Barnitt, 145 Holborn Bars, London". Sehr seltene und kleine Schiebekastenkamera für Plattenfor- mat 7 x 7 cm, Nußbaumgehäuse mit Messingbeschlä- gen, mit sehr frühem Messingobjektiv von Dallmey- er, London (Nr. 8971), für Steckblenden, eine Steck- blende vorhanden, Mattscheibenrückteil. Maße der Kamera: Länge 17 cm, Höhe 13 cm, Breite 11 cm. – Gelistet wurde die Firma Balton & Barnitt bis 1864 als Chemie-Hersteller, beliefert mit Kameras vermutlich von der englischen Firma Thomas Ottewill aus London. – Unrestaurierter Originalzustand!

"Balton & Barnitt, 145 Holborn Bars, London". Very rare small walnut sliding box camera, with early brass lens by Dallmeyer, London (no. 8971), with one water- house stop, rack-and-pinion focusing. Size1of the cam- era: length 6 3⁄4 in., height: 5 in., width: 4 /3 in. – Bal- ton & Barnitt were listed in 1864 as chemists, sliding box cameras marked "Balton & Barnitt" were probably made by Ottewill in London. – Excellent unrestored original condition!

Frühe Ausführung der Stege- mann-Tropenkamera, Plattenformat 9 x 12 cm, Tropen- gehäuse mit Nickelbeschlägen, brauner Balgen mit beidseitigem Auszug, Satz Plasmat 4,5/17,3 cm (11/36 cm), Compur-Verschluß, Mattscheibenrückteil. Kamera benötigt etwas Pflege. Extrem seltene Stegemann- Kamera. – Literatur: McKeown's Price Guide 2005/06, S. 903, und Abring IV, Nr. 3724.
