1006: Musik-Puppenautomat "Le Jeune Noir au Banjo" von Vichy, um 1900 € 5.000,-
Junge mit Banjo, modellierter Kopf aus Gips, braune Glasaugen, bewegliche Augenlider, Original-Mohair- perücke. Gekleidet in Seidenhemd, hellblauer Jacke, gestreifter Hose, mit Schärpe und Strohhut. Walzen- spielwerk für zwei Melodien, Federwerkmotor, Mecha- nik mit Nockenscheiben. Der Junge sitzt auf der Lehne eines weiß lackierten Stuhles, dreht seinen Kopf und nickt, zwinkert mit den Augen, zupft die Saiten des Banjos, hebt das rechte Bein an und legt es über das linke. Gesamthöhe 56 cm. Mit Vichy-Schlüssel und eichelförmigem Stopp-/Starthebel. Guter funktionie- render Zustand, sehr gut erhaltene Original- Bemalung und frühe Kleidung, nur die Hose wurde ersetzt. – Provenienz: Auction Team Breker, 24. Mai 2014, Lot 553. Ehemalige Sammlung von Jacques Damiot. Dieser Automat war in der Ausstellung von 1978 "Automates Musiciens de Jacques Damiot" im Palais Lascaris, Nizza, zu sehen (Nr. VII im Ausstel- lungskatalog). 63 Automaten aus Damiots Sammlung wurden von der Stadt Neuilly-sur-Seine erworben und sind nun im Musée de Neuilly zu sehen. – Literatur: Bailly, "Automata, the Golden Age", S. 104. – Ein außergewöhnlich schöner Vichy-Automat aus einer frühen und historisch wertvollen französischen Sammlung.
"Le Jeune Noir au Banjo" Musical Automaton by Vichy, c. 1900
With plaster-composition head and hands, modeled as a young black boy with smiling expression, brown glass eyes, articulated eyelids and original mohair wig, sit- ting on the top rung of a white-painted chair that houses going-barrel movement playing two airs as the musician turns and nods his head, blinks, strums and lifts and crosses his right leg, dressed in silk shirt, string tie, light-blue jacket, sash and straw hat, height 22 in. (56 cm), with brass Vichy key and "acorn" stop/start. Good original working condition, well-preserved paint finish, early/original costume with later breeches. – Prove- nance: Auction Team Breker, 24 May 2014, Lot 553. Ex-collection of Jacques Damiot, No. VII in 1978 exhi- bition catalog "Automates Musiciens de Jacques Damiot" at the Palais Lascaris, Nice. Sixty-three au- tomata from Damiot's collection were acquired by the town of Neuilly-sur-Seine and now form part of the Musée de Neuilly. – Literature: Bailly, "Automata, the Golden Age", p. 104. – A beautiful Vichy automaton with provenance from an early and historic French collection.
