Auf Messingplakette bezeichnet. Seltener Charakter- kopf aus Biskuitporzellan, gemalte blaue Augen, offen- geschlossener Mund mit modellierten Zähnen, starke Falten und gelockte Mohairperücke, Hände aus Papier- maché, bekleidet mit weitem Wollmantel und Schal, an seiner Seite ein Pointer mit beweglichen Ohren und beweglichem Schwanz, Sockel mit Pflastersteinimitat und seitlicher Samtverkleidung, mit Federwerkmotor, Mechanik, 4 Nockenscheiben und Walzenspielwerk für 2 Melodien. Der Herr schlägt die Mandoline an, hebt seinen Kopf, während der Hund mit dem Schwanz we- delt und die Ohren spitzt. Gesamthöhe 58 cm. – Ein charmanter und humorvoller Automat in gut funk- tionierendem Zustand.

With rare domed bisque character head depicting an elderly man with painted blue eyes, open-closed mouth with molded teeth, wrinkles and curly grey mohair wig, papier-mâché hands strumming mandolin, dressed in woolen great-coat and scarf, an articulated spotted dog at his side, on velvet-covered base modeled as a pave- ment, the substantial brass going-barrel motor driving two-air cylinder movement and four cams that cause the gentleman to strum, lift his head and then pause as the dog flaps his ears and wags his tail, height 23 in. (58 cm), base with engraved plaque and signature "PLCBE", with key. – A nicely modeled and humorous subject, in good working condition.

546: Musik-Puppenautomat "Türkischer Wasser- pfeifen-Raucher" von Jean und Anne Farkas,

Parun, Frankreich. Biskuitporzellankopf, offener Mund, blaue Glasaugen, mit gekreuzten Beinen auf einem Kissen sitzend, neben sich eine Wasserpfeife, bekleidet mit Seiden-Haremshosen und -Turban, Samtweste. Federwerk, Mechanik und Walzenspielwerk für zwei Melodien im mit Samt bezogenem Sockel, Gesamthöhe 33 cm. Die Puppe schaut zu den Seiten, fächelt mit der linken Hand (Fächer fehlt) und hebt das Mundstück der Wasserpfeife an den Mund, Rauchfunktion nicht gete- stet. – Ein zeitgenössischer Automat nach klassischer Art.

Turkish Smoker Automaton by Jean and Anne Far- kas, c. 1980
Parun, France. With bisque head, open mouth and blue glass eyes, sitting cross-legged on velvet-covered base containing two-air cylinder movement that causes the figure to look from side to side, fan himself (fan miss- ing) and raise the mouthpiece of a narghile water pipe, in silk harem pants, velvet waistcoat and turban, height 13 in. (33 cm), smoking function not tested. – A classic contemporary smoking automaton.
