"SOL-20" by Processor Technology, 1976
The "SOL" was developed by Bob Marsh, Lee Felsen- stein and Gordon French. Bob founded his company, Processor Technology, in April 1975 to manufacture 4K RAM memory boards for the MITS "Altair". In June 1975, Bob and Les Solomon (technical editor of "Popu- lar Electronics" magazine) designed the "SOL-20" computer. Bob used as the side panels sections of wal- nut, which he had originally planned to use for a digital clock. – A major difference between the "SOL-20" and most other computers of this era was its built-in video drive, allowing it to be attached to a composite monitor for display. – Based on the "Intel 8080" microprocessor, this machine holds a special place in computer history for technical as well as aesthetic reasons. It is one of the earliest machines with a keyboard interface, and was a precursor of modern video output boards, owing to its ability to display alphanumeric characters on the screen. The idea was later taken up by the "Apple II" and brought to fruition. – The machine in this lot is complete, and boots up although more detailed tests were not carried out. Slight rust marks, otherwise good overall condition.

Zweite, technisch überarbeitete Version des ersten Per- sonal Computers mit GUI (graphische Benutzeroberflä- che) von Apple und damit Vorgänger des Apple Mac- intosh. Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger-Modell Lisa-1 wurde erstmals in einem Personal Computer ein moder- nes 3,5-Zoll-Diskettenlaufwerk von Sony verbaut. Da- mit war der Lisa-2 sehr zuverlässig und konnte sogar verschiedene Betriebssysteme verarbeiten. Der hier angebotene Lisa 2/5 befindet sich in einem sehr guten optischen und technischen Zustand. Speziell die externe 5-Megabyte(!)-Apple-Profile-Festplatte funktioniert einwandfrei. Diese wurde damals für eine Lebensdauer von 5 Jahren gebaut: jetzt, 30 Jahre später, funktioniert sie immer noch. Der Lisa 2/5 ist komplett und funkti- onstüchtig. Dieser ist als Dualboot-System konfiguriert: Er kann LOS (Lisa Office System 3.1) und MacWorks XL starten. Unter LOS sind die typischen LOS- Applikationen installiert, in MacWorks XL bootet man, indem man beim Start (self-check) «APPLE»«2» drückt (oder die Leertaste) bei eingelegter MacWorks Boot- Disk. Zwei graphische Betriebssysteme auf demselben Gerät zu starten war 1984 einzigartig! Im Lieferumfang enthalten sind die externe Apple-Profile-Festplatte, die Lisa-2-Maus, das Lisa-2-Handbuch und ein Satz LOS- Disketten (Lisa Office System) und MacWorks XL (als Kopie). Auf der Festplatte sind neben den Betriebssy- stemen auch die dazugehörigen Applikationen und unter MacWorks XL auch einige Spiele installiert. Der Lisa-2 und die externe Apple-Profile-Festplatte laufen auf 230 V olt.
